In the increasingly complex and dynamic world of communication, public relations (PR) professionals face challenges that go beyond message delivery strategies—they also bear an inherent social responsibility. As the host of the World Public Relations Forum (WPRF) 2024, Indonesia demonstrated its leadership by bringing together professionals, academics, and industry leaders from around the world to discuss PR’s role in driving positive change.
With the theme “Purposeful Influence for the Common Good,” WPRF 2024, held on November 19-22 at Merusaka Nusa Dua, Bali, served as a prestigious event organized by the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management, in collaboration with Perhumas and Katadata Indonesia. This theme reflects the PR profession’s commitment to going beyond commercial goals and positioning itself as a significant agent of social change. Its emphasis on responsible influence is particularly relevant in today’s rapidly evolving global landscape, highlighting the crucial role of PR in shaping a sustainable future.
Amid an atmosphere brimming with ideas and inspiration, one of the most compelling sessions was a discussion on the essential elements of effective collaboration, led by Sari Soegondo, Chairperson of the Indonesian Public Relations Companies Association (APPRI) and Co-Founder & Executive Director of ID COMM. In this session, Sari highlighted how openness and role clarity from the outset can determine the success of a collaboration.
Sari emphasized the importance of having a clear vision and expectations from the beginning. “Transparency is the first step. All parties must understand why we are collaborating and what we aim to achieve. With a clear vision and commitment to results, collaboration can run more smoothly,” she explained. Additionally, she highlighted the importance of fair and accountable role distribution, particularly in managing responsibilities and benefits—both financial and non-financial. Her philosophy is simple yet powerful: “Let the experts do their job.”
This perspective reflects the collaborative approach that ID COMM also applies in supporting its clients. As a strategic communications firm, ID COMM recognizes the importance of bridging client needs with relevant solutions in the digital era. A synergy- and trust-driven approach enables them to help clients execute campaigns that are not only innovative but also impactful.
The World Public Relations Forum 2024 was more than just a platform for sharing best practices in the communication industry—it also created tangible opportunities to develop solutions relevant to the challenges of the digital era. This forum reinforced the idea that PR success relies not only on communication strategies but also on openness, accountability, and a commitment to generating real social impact. Discussions like these prove that PR is not merely a tool for shaping public opinion but a force capable of driving meaningful social change.
